If you can't get them to hit the jerk bait my next try would be a decent sized jig ,maybe 3/4 oz with a pig trailer. There is nothing like a jig and a pig to make me feel like I'm doing some real bass hunting. Uncle Josh® Pork Baits--Bait Frog 11 GS - is a very good trailer. I use the frogs but the strips and the crawdads are the favorites of many. I like to work the shore line from the bank. It can be very effective in the winter and you won't have the under growth to contend with like in the spring and fall. Just remember to cast to areas with access to deeper waters.
If you strike out with all three of these I think you can be certain it was the fish and not the man. Don't get discouraged just remember what Bill Dance says "a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work". Happy hunting. |
