Crown Royal 400

Dale Earnhardt Junior won the Crown Royal 400 in Richmond, VA last Saturday
night. He was the victor for the first time in 27 Nextel Cup races. Some
fans, mostly Harvick fans, believed he didn't desrve it. I know he did. I
saw the race. I was watching as the red number eight finished first under
the checkered flag. Did he have the fastest car? Maybe not. But I think he
did. Harvick fans think their boy did. But if Kevin had the quickest car
why after he put on fresh tires did he not go to the head of the pack? Because
Harvick fans are dreaming. Their driver was the fastest for most of the race
but when Dale Junior went to the lead with 44 laps to go he proved to be
the class of the field. Kyle Busch and young Denny Hamlin could only follow
and dream of what it must be like to be NASCAR's crown prince as a sea of
red stood every time Dale JR passed the grandstands.
This puts Dale in a solid sixth postion in points to get to the chase. If
Saturday night is any indication the leader of the Earnhardt Nation may be
ready to accept his father's legacy as the King of Stock Cars.
