Down and Dirty with Dave

Dave's advice  on landscaping "Honey let me finish this beer and then I'll give you a hand with that fertilizer spreader" or how to " Mow the lawn without leaving your hammock!" This is only the first two, of many, tips Dave will have on how to make your yard look as good as his. He'll have weekly tips and a monthly column on the many trials and tribulations of getting someone(his wife) to make his yard(not hers) look like a million bucks.

Time Saving Yard Tips: 1. Buy a mulching lawn mower - wife won’t have to rake (also it adds nitrogen to the soil). 2. Grow Rhubarb and Asparagus - edible perennials (won’t have to replant each year). 3. Raised Beds - (Garden beds, idiot) less bugs, easier to control the soil and the weeds). 4. Water less often, but for long periods of time (buy a soaker hose). Deep soaking once a week is better for you and the plants (it encourages deep roots).
